Graphic Design |
CeFar offers a full range of graphic design services from the creation of original concept matrial, logos and corporate identity packages to enhancement of existing customer artwork from mechanical or electronic originals. |
Imagesetting |
Our Agfa Accusetšimagesetter produces positive and negative film at resolutions up to 2400 dpi and linescreens to 200. It also produces accurate PMT's on resin coated (photographic) paper. The wide (14") film permits the production of large format pages with crops, registration and bleeds and allows the production of imposed printed spreads to reduce stripping costs . |
Scanning |
We use Agfa Arcus II and Duoscan scanners. These provide the ability to scan at resolutions up to 3600 dpi (B&W) and 2400 dpi (colour) from positive photos and artwork, transparencies and negatives. We also have OCR scanning capabilities. |
Colour Proofing |
To keep costs low initial colour proofing can be done on the large format Lexmark 4079. This ink jet is excellent for producing 360 dpi, for position mockups at minimal cost. For final pre-rip proofs we use an Epson 1520 ink jet at 1440 dpi. Once everything is approved our Taipan software allows us to actually RIP the image and display it on a monitor, dot for dot, traps and bleeds included, before sending it to film. The final step in ensuring colour quality is colour keying on high quality Agfa NAPS material. |

Publications based on multiple system platforms and programs is a common problem in today's publishing industry. Although an increasing number of programs are "cross-platform" capable many problems still arise with fonts, embedding, links and graphics formats. CeFar has years of experience in resolving these issues and streamlining the publishing process. |
Project Planning & Consultation |
Time wasted is money wasted. We work with our clients to assure that project planning is done beforemoney is tied up in unwanted work and costly proofs that go in the garbage. We work closely with customers in all aspects of design and production as well as providing a close liasion with the printers. Paper types and grades, inks, linescreen, calibration, dot gain, moir, kerning and a thousand other technical factors can make the difference between a good job and a bad one, or costly and cost-effective. At CeFar, we not only look after these issues for you, we also explain them in plain language,
Two further considerations. Today's relatively inexpensive software and hardware make it possible for almost everyone to create good looking documents and graphics. It's easy, it can be fun, and we encourage it. Remember though that tranferring these from the computer monitor to the printed page is a much more complicated task. It is possible to create a job that looks beautiful on the screen, and even proofs well, but produces poor quality when printed because the wrong choices between the screen and press stages. We look at the whole project and strive to co-ordinate and optimize the cost-effectiveness and quality of the work from concept to completion. |
